Diamond Dog Baseball Camp for Summer 2017 set for June 20 and June 22

Unfortunately, due to staffing issues, Diamond Dog Baseball Camp for grades 1 to 8 scheduled for June 20 and June 22, 2017 has been cancelled. If you have already preregistered and paid, you will receive a refund. We apologize for this inconvenience. 

The dates for Diamond Dog Baseball Camp for the summer of 2017 will be Tuesday June 20 and Thursday, June 22. Camp will be $40 per day and campers are welcomed to attend both days. Both camps will be similar and will  include hitting drills, stations, and situations. Also, throwing and fielding mechanics as well as specific defensive positions (pitchers, catchers, infielders, and outfielders) will be emphasized. As for the defensive positions, participants will be able to rotate to different defensive positions to learn more than one. In the afternoon, there will be game situations and competitions toward the end of the day as time allows.

Diamond Dog camp will take place on the Gardner-Webb campus at John Henry Moss Stadium/Bill Masters Field. Gatorade will be provided for participants at no cost. 

Cost: $40 for each day
Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
(Break for lunch from noon to 1 p.m.)
*Parents can take camper to lunch or leave money for fast food nearby- coaches will accompany campers who walk to local restaurants nearby- (McDonalds, KFC/Taco Bell, Hardees)
Ages: those who have completed 1st grade up to those who have completed 8th grade
Staff will include Gardner-Webb coaches and local high school and middle school coaches

Hats and used games jerseys will be available for purchase at each of the sessions but are not included in the price.

Participants must pay in advance to participate. If the participant wishes to participate both days, the online form must be filled out separately for each day. 

CAMPERS WILL BE DIVIDED INTO AGE APPROPRIATE GROUPS DURING CAMP. For those who are in middle school, you will mainly be with other players your age. Campers should bring baseball shoes, (no metal spikes) flat turf shoes, or tennis shoes, for use in the indoor batting cages. Bring a glove and a hat and wear what you would normally wear for a baseball game. If you bring a bat, please have it clearly marked with your name on it to prevent confusion. Water and Gatorade will be available for free but campers are welcomed to bring water bottles if they wish.

9:00- Introductions and review of procedures
9:10- Flexibility warm up 
9:30- Athleticism, Strength, and Agility Program (for speed, quickness, and agility improvement)
10:00- Proper throwing warm up routine 
10:30- Primary Defensive positions (Pitchers, infielders, outfielders, catchers)
11:15- Secondary Defensive positions (participants can choose to learn another position)
Noon- break for lunch
1:00- Warm up routine
1:15- Hitting stations (campers divided into age appropriate groups)
2:30- Games and competition (HR derby, game situations)
3:50- Wrap up and review
